Top 85 Architecture Ideas in June

From Rotating Skyscraper Concepts to Louvered Bas-Relief Facades:

It's funny comparing the June 2017 architecture trends to what the field of architecture originated as. Before architecture was a field -- indeed before it was even a word or a fully formed concept -- people needed to rely on ur-architecture in order to build shelter for themselves, their families, and their communities. Today, architecture still provides those basic needs, but it has moved up Maslow's hierarchy to far loftier goals.

One of the universal tenets of architecture is to never place form above function. Architecture is one of the few arts that not only has expressive abilities but also needs to serve people in their daily lives. Though many of the June 2017 architecture concepts might look egregiously form-focused, more often than not those aggressive forms yield functionality. For instance, 'The Bolt,' a pavilion built for Clerkenwell Design Week, looks like little more than an abstract gazebo. However, its oddly angled spikes are hand-placed to let in the precise amount of light throughout the day.
