Lunar-Based Rotating Pavilions

The Moon Pavilion by Atelier Guo Transforms an Abandoned Greenhouse

The Moon Pavilion by Atelier Guo reinterprets an old greenhouse in Huizhou, China, as a luminous environment inspired by ancient verse. The architects preserved the transparent structure, introducing a glowing moon that rotates gently within the space. Its reflection across the glass panels creates shifting patterns of light and shadow that evoke water, sky, and time. Visitors experience the work as both architecture and art, walking through an atmosphere shaped by rhythm and stillness.

Atelier Guo drew from a Chinese poem that celebrates beauty, intoxication, and contemplation in nature. The result balances history with innovation, transforming a neglected site into a meditative pavilion. Through restraint and subtle symbolism, the Moon Pavilion reconnects human experience with landscape, turning decay into serenity and material simplicity into quiet transcendence.
