House Under the Poplars is a residence in Slovenia designed by OFIS Arhitekti that frames domestic spaces around a stand of mature poplar trees to create a strong connection between interior, landscape, and natural light. The plan is organized to preserve the existing trees, with built volumes stepping around their trunks and creating fragmented outdoor terraces that extend living areas toward nature. Large glazed openings and carefully oriented sightlines draw daylight into communal zones while maintaining visual continuity with the surrounding environment.
Programmatic areas are arranged to balance privacy and shared use, with living, dining, and social spaces positioned to benefit from sunlight and views throughout the day. Materials such as light-toned wood, masonry, and smooth plaster reinforce tactile warmth and visual clarity within the interior volumes.
