Ooiio Architecture’s House 64 Renovation Transforms a 1960 Flat

House 64 is a renovated Madrid apartment completed by OOIIO Architecture to reorganize a 1960 layout around natural light and ventilation. The 689-square-foot home was previously divided into compartmentalized rooms that blocked airflow across the two parallel facades. The renovation removed nonstructural partitions and introduced an open configuration with linked living, dining, kitchen and bedroom zones. Storage modules were incorporated as fixed volumes that define circulation while keeping the sightlines clear. Surfaces were updated with new tiling, built-ins and color applications.

The project maintains the original footprint and uses strategic spatial adjustments to support contemporary residential needs. Lighting, cabinetry and flooring were selected for durability and uniformity across the apartment. Daylight now passes through the full depth of the unit due to the reduction of solid barriers.
