The Aia Global Campus for Architecture and Design Opens in Washington

The AIA Global Campus for Architecture and Design is a renovated headquarters for the American Institute of Architects located in Washington, DC. The project transforms the organization’s existing campus into a public-facing center for architecture, education, and collaboration. Designed by architecture firm EHDD, the campus includes exhibition galleries, event spaces, classrooms, and flexible work areas intended for architects, students, and visiting professionals. Public access is prioritized through ground-level programming and clear circulation between indoor and outdoor spaces.

The renovation updates the original building with contemporary environmental performance standards while retaining key structural elements. Energy-efficient systems, improved daylight access, and upgraded building envelopes support reduced operational impact. Interior layouts are reorganized to support collaborative work and learning, while exterior spaces are adapted for gatherings and public use.
