Multicultural Bright Historic Museums

Clean the Sky - Positive Eco Trends & Breakthroughs

MAD Architects Designst he Fenix Project in Rotterdam

— May 29, 2025 — Art & Design
The team at MAD Architects designs the Fenix Museum of Migration, which takes the historic structure first built in 1923 and turns it into a bright museum. The space brings attention to the city's rich history and the prominent need of resilience in a sustainable way in modern day. It is designed with a double-helix 'Tornado' staircase which spirals into a rooftop space.

The Fenix is much more than an artful architectural design, but also a statement on how heritage buildings can accommodate urban needs. The project showcases that historic architecture does not need to stay as is to be honored. Instead, the history can be preserved alongside new updates by blending exposed concrete and original walls with the reflective staircase.
