The Slash Lamp, designed by Bucharest designer Dragos Motico for Romanian furniture brand UNIKUBI, doubles as a stress-relieving device. The lamp comes equipped with a stone, allowing the user to smash the shade to reveal the steel mesh reinforcement underneath. Talk about killing two birds, one stone.
All together, the lamp is made from birch plywood and a reinforced concrete shade, which covers an LED bulb. Of course, you can forego the whole smashing process and leave the lamp in its original format if you prefer. Motico puts it this way: "By breaking the lamp you are becoming the designer of a unique object. By leaving it unbroken, you choose the serialized object because you like it as it is. So you are taking a very subjective decision."
Broken or unbroken, the industrial-looking lamp is suspended from the ceiling by a textured cord.
