The Musical Stepladders are a clever creation by the duo behind Nervous Squirrel, which make sounds when stepped on. Various audio clips can be recorded and attached to each step, so that when users step a sound is produced. When two people start walking up and down simultaneously, a chorus of sorts is formed, creating pretty impressive music considering it's coming from a pair of stepladders.
This project is quite a simple one, but it also shows how technology is becoming so integrated into modern art. Instead of just taking a painting and a canvas, these days many artists are looking at the objects found in everyday life and questioning how they can be used differently, and perhaps in a more meaningful way.
