Concert-Producing Music Speakers

ÉCAL Students Team Up with Yamaha to Design the 'Stagespeaker'

Due to the lack of live music during the pandemic, Till Ronacher's 'Stagespeaker' allows users to reproduce live concerts at home by combining sound and light to create a miniature concert. The wooden and cloth 'Sound Frame' can be triggered to play different tracks, while the 'Vertical Player' lifts the turntable to a standing posture to show off the vinyl record.

Students from ÉCAL, a Swiss design school, collaborated with Yamaha to develop the series of experimental music players. Each of the six designs is the result of research into how people interact with music today, offering an elevated musical experience. The display will be showcased during Milan Design Week inside an exhibition that has been designed by Anthony Guex, featuring a backdrop of yellow velvet curtains.

The prototypes are presently on display in Milan as part of the city's design festival, which runs until June 12.
