The Pharaoh’s Lost Cat by Sheba Searches for Descendants of Egyptian Cats

Sheba created a cat food recipe it deems worthy of feline royalty, so it created a campaign called The Pharaoh’s Lost Cat, and an AI-powered tool called the Pharaoh Cat Finder. This tool aims to “help people discover if their cats have similar traits" to the revered cats of ancient Egypt. To gain insight, cat owners need only upload a photo, and for their efforts, they'll get a free sample of Sheba Selections Filets.
For this launch, the brand partnered with Leslie Lyons of the Feline Genetics & Comparative Medicine Lab housed at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. “Identifying a genetic link between the venerated cats of ancient Egypt and the house cats of today was a monumental discovery for my lab,” Lyons said, “Mysteriously, this specific DNA sequence has only been found in cats in Egypt and the U.S., unlocking even more questions to be explored.”
