The Pepys Road online story lets users craft their own personalized, 10 installment tale of what the world will be like in a decade. When readers log into, they are asked to share where they were born and where they are now. The site then generates the distance the user has traveled to get to their new statistics on the two locations.

Over the next 10 days, the user is sent a daily email that reveals more of their saga, and is asked to make decisions that will affect how their story unfolds. They can also see how the choices they have made compare to those made by other users.

The website is an accompaniment to the John Lanchester novel 'Capital' about life on Pepys Road in London. The novel and the online story both pit users in a post-financial crash world where every decision is paramount. The Pepys Road online story gives readers the ability to actively participate in crafting the story of their future. It also forces them to think about how their choices affect not only their own life, but that of those around them.
