Because interactivity affects engagement and engagement augments sales, advertisers are turning to apps to promote their wares. According to reports from eMarketer, Ask.com and Harris Interactive, about 73.3 million Americans own smartphones and 69 percent of them have downloaded an app at least once; thus, “appvertising” is becoming steadily more important in the marketing game.
