Boomer Community

Initiatives encourage individuals to interact with an aging, often isolated group

Implications - A number of initiatives that seek to provide seniors with a sense of community have begun to emerge, many of which use the sharing economy to encourage interaction with younger generations. Whether specifically targeting the invisibility of older generations or addressing the physical limitations of age, such programs highlight the influence of the Boomer population, as well as the benefits of the peer-to-peer model. This shift also suggests that cross-generational connections are an important part of community building, being closely related to health and well-being of older citizens.
