In an effort to reduce isolation among aging seniors and fight the victimization of elderly women living alone, several matchmaking services have emerged that enable homesharing for seniors.

The Affordable Living for the Aging is an organization located in Los Angeles that offers several different options for seniors looking for homesharing options, affordable housing and other supportive services regarding housing.

The unique initiative is sure to play an even larger role with the emergence of an aging boomer population. Given that women tend to live longer than men, there is also the issue of an overwhelming number of aging women living alone. By connecting single elderly women as roommates, individuals can avoid loneliness, save money and reduce isolation in the aging population.
