I've lived in Toronto my entire life. I'm obsessed with pop culture, social media, and technology, with a sweet spot for social enterprises. I'm addicted to pasta and bagels, and I love TV - guilty pleasures include Kardashian (love Kourtney). I also love Jeopardy, crosswords and journalism. I feel like I've spent the last 10 years on the internet.
What is unique that's not in your bio?
I've been blogging on one format or another since about 2003, but my mother just calls it an "internet addiction." The first video I remember downloading on Napster is Robbie Williams' 'Rock DJ,' if that means anything to anyone.
What's your favorite accomplishment?
Traveling on my own - so far to Copenhagen, Denmark and Creamfields dance music festival in Daresbury, England!
How do you define cool?
Cool, to me, is effortlessly chic - wearing whatever you want, doing whatever you want, but with an acute sense of self-awareness.
What is your secret to uncovering trends?
Pop culture can be complicated but there's so much self-reference. Picking up on those references helps to gain perspective on the context and relevance of the trend.
What do you enjoy most about Trend Hunter?
I love that Trend Hunter has anything worth seeing posted way before you're inundated with it (whatever it is) by your friends who find it elsewhere online days/weeks/months later.
What is your favorite trend?
My favourite trend is clashing patterns, prints, and bright colors.
How do you reset to be creative?
Yoga would be my first choice. Also watching lots of movies, television, and getting in some reading. If I'm lucky, traveling always works.
What inspires or excites you?
I love looking at art and photography to get as many perspectives on composition as possible.
Predict something awesome for 2020?
I'm hoping for worldwide free wireless internet by 2020. It'll take a lot of work but I think it's essential that everyone has access to the internet.
