Design is a hugely broad concept, as everything that's ever been created by a person has technically be designed in some capacity, and the breadth of fields represented in the June 2018 design trends demonstrate just how diverse design is today. Industrial design, web and app design, and so many other areas show off the best that designers have to offer, and finding patterns across these fields is a great way to improve one's work within any one of them.
Though design has always been important, the philosophies of Silicon Valley have made designers more valuable than ever before. Modern online companies recognize that in order to keep users, those users need to feel perfectly comfortable on the company's site, and design is the way to establish that level of comfort.
