The new web font, which was designed by foundry Dalton Maag and is being unrolled across the web over the next few days, shows the importance that web design carries for a company like Airbnb.
Airbnb is similar to many online service providers in that its website serves a double purpose. On the one hand, the website is the product, with the speed and ease of the UI making up a huge proportion of why customers feel comfortable using the platform in the first place. On the other hand, the site is a form of marketing -- Airbnb Cereal addresses both those tasks at once.
