There is far more work that goes in the designing of illustrated kids books than one thinks. Although the narrative is often simplistic, created to appeal to the understanding of little individuals, the visual component must be engaging and aesthetically pleasing. After all, pretty pictures will engage children more and forward-thinking design will compel the adult to purchase the book in the first place.
Italian-born artist Philip Giordano does a great job in conceiving and curating the content of an illustrated kids book series. His graphics boast geometry-heavy sea creatures, animals, insects and more. Each visual representation also has a richly textured feeling that gives the flat design a certain character of grit. Playing with the magnitude of shapes and topics, the illustrated kids book collection fits the requirements of good design.
