Puzzle-Inspired Italian Nurseries

C+S Architects Develops the Noah's Ark Nursery in Alzano

Italian firm C+S Architects has just completed the Noah's Ark nursery close to Bergamo and it is detailed with a red concrete wall engraved with animal representations from Enzo Mari's famous puzzle from the 50s. The wall welcomes children with a playful energy and it was also designed with the help of local firm Capitanio Architetti to nod to its setting and the history of the Italian aesthetic.

The co-founder of Segantini, Carlo Cappai explained the design concept to Dezeen, noting "We have designed a 'space of potential', where every space can be transformed by the creativity of the teachers or the community that revolves around it. All distribution spaces are generous and can be transformed into spaces for special activities, even during after-school hours," he added. "In this way, the school becomes an epicentre for the community and strengthens its identity."
