Many of the top graffiti art trends of 2012 resembled the style or famous street artist Banksy. Included in these were satirical hip-hop hero portraits, blending rappers with comic book characters, and billboard artwork done to reclaim outdoor ad space from large corporations.
Many larger companies also made advertisements intended to look like work done by actual street artists. This was an ironic spin on many artists' attempts to make work that spoke out against these establishments.
