With the Olympics having just come to an end, many of these September 2016 sneaker innovations are marked by patriotic colorways and medal-centered accents.

As the prevalence of these models make clear, many consumers chose to show their support with statement-worthy shoes that commemorate the athletes from their homelands, with brands everywhere looking to cater to this desire. While some models took on vibrant all-gold themes, other brands chose to implement the theme more subtly with slight accents on mostly white colorways.

Another noteworthy concept that's included in this cluster of September 2016 sneaker ideas in a partnership between Converse and a South Korean rapper known as Keith Ape. In order to promote its products a specific to young men in the area, Converse worked with the artist on a psychedelic music video that saw close-ups of its sneakers throughout.
