As institutions like Starbucks and McDonald's are abolishing plastic straws from their locations, other businesses are developing the next generation of eco-friendly packaging. The Kaffree cup, for example, is a biodegradable, reusable and dishwasher-safe container made from coffee grounds, sourced from Berlin cafes.
In terms of August 2018 eco architectural initiatives, Miró Rivera Architects developed a sustainable countryside home that is equipped with solar panels, a rainwater-collecting mechanism, as well as a geothermal system that provides the structure with heating and cooling.
