London-based designer Arthur Analts designed the Honey Coin to celebrate Latvia's dedication towards sustainability, resources and nature. Analts was born in Latvia and this project hits close to home as the coin was issued by the bank of Latvia this year. The piece is a five euro coin that takes on the shape and engraved accents of a honeycomb. The honeycomb cells create a broad outline of the Latvian geographic view as well as the Gulf of Riga.
Looking in closely, there is a "LATVIJA 2018" inscription on the lower left side of the coin. On the other side of the piece, there are five capped cells that represent the euro value of the honey coin. Additionally, there is also the numeral "5" on the left along with "euro."
