As the Romans said, 'in vino veritas,' but in the March 2017 alcohol trends as a whole there's truth, whether related to wine or any other form of alcohol. Two of the most notable overarching ideas therein involve the flavors of the various alcoholic beverages and the way that those beverages are presented.

Purists might dismay, but flavored varieties of traditional alcohols are becoming more and more popular. The Modern Times Black House Nitro Stout is a dark beer flavored with coffee, coconut, and cocoa, and Forbidden Root's 'Fernetic' botanical beer is combined with the bitter taste of Fernet-Branca liqueur and various roots and herbs.

Alcohol across every category is getting creative branding, since a catchy brand identity is essential in order to stand out in a crowded market. 'Spytail Black Ginger Rum,' for instance, uses an old naval bottle design to highlight its 19th century recipe.
