Starbucks' Unicorn Frappuccino inspired the creation of a new wave of rainbow-colored Instagrammable beverages and other menu items that emphasize form over flavor. Now, a number of drinks are being created with a focus on getting consumers to share the eye-catching creations to social media. This includes the use of everything from wildly colored ingredients to branded ice cubes, unconventional serving vessels, edible 3D-printed garnishes, as well as dazzling glow-in-the-dark details.
To counter the popularity of vibrantly hued unicorn-inspired drinks, a number of cafes and restaurant have been introducing "gothic" beverages made with ingredients like activated charcoal and black sesame seeds; Round K, Damson & Co and RAWBERRY are just a few places that serve all-black beverage variations on this theme.
