31 Natural Packaging Materials

From Mushroom Packing Materials to Coconut Shell Containers:

These natural packaging materials provide wonderful alternatives to the many plastics on the market. Plastics are incredibly versatile, but there is often difficulty recycling them, provided that the end user has properly disposed of them.

Unconventional materials like containers made from hay, mushrooms, agricultural waste and coconut fibers are of the earth and make it easier for it to return to it as well. These innovative packaging materials can be recycled, composted, biodegraded or sometimes even reused to serve a different purpose after they have successfully transported a product to where a user needs it to be.

Veuve Clicquot is an incredible example of a well-known brand that is pushing to be more responsible and provide more value to its consumers — it developed the 'Naturally Clicquot,' which elegantly keeps champagne chilled in a sheath made from a mix of potatoes and recycled paper.
