Recyclable Bottle Containers

The 'Recyklobox' Allows For Sustainable In‑Store Returns

The 'Recyklobox' is a recyclable in‑store bottle collection container developed by Mondi for use in retail environments, with the aim of making it possible to gather up returnable bottle packaging without relying on expensive machinery.

The 'Recyklobox' container is crafted together from five‑layer corrugated board and features a two‑part structure, with a lower section for collected bottles and a top lid that includes an easy opening for deposits. The material combines recycled paper with a smaller proportion of virgin fibre, balancing durability with recyclability while allowing for a non-obtrusive footprint on the store floor.

After it is used, the entire 'Recyklobox' can be processed back into paper material.

The 'Recyklobox' has already been successfully deployed in Biedronka supermarket chain stores in Poland, which proves its efficacy and usefulness as a solution for sustainable, flexible and easily operable collection in retail environments.

Retail Reverse-logistics Simplification
Low‑cost, machine-free collection units create opportunities for decentralized return flows that reduce infrastructure investment and increase consumer participation.
Paper-based Circular Packaging
Durable, multi‑layer corrugated solutions offer a pathway for packaging to function as both transport and collection asset while feeding back into paper recycling streams.
Modular In‑store Sustainability Fixtures
Compact, two‑part collection designs enable flexible placement and temporary deployments that minimize floor-space impact and adapt to store layouts.

Sectors Adopting This

Retail Grocery Chains
Supermarkets can incorporate recyclable collection containers to expand in‑store takeback programs without installing expensive automated reverse-vending equipment.
Packaging Manufacturing
Producers of corrugated and fiberboard can develop multi‑layer recyclable formats that substitute for rigid plastics and capture new value in circular supply chains.
Waste Management and Recycling
Fiber recovery and processing firms may integrate collected container streams into existing paper recycling lines, creating new feedstock sources and service offerings.
