From Bluetooth Traffic Sensors to Lighted Pedestrian Crosswalks

Congested traffic is a problem that plagues almost every major city, but these traffic-reducing initiatives are working to solve this.

Many cities like Montreal, Dubai and Paris are keen on investing in these traffic-reducing systems in order to improve road conditions. Notable examples include systems that aim to remove traffic from the roads, like 'Workhorse's' personal commuter helicopter, to those that work to reduce the number of collisions on the road, like the 'Lighted Zebra Crossings' in the Netherlands.

Many of these ideas are connected to an environmental benefit like reduced carbon emissions or the promotion of a vibrant local ecology. This suggests an increased global awareness as well as a willingness from law-makers to invest in solving of the damaging environmental effects of blocked traffic.
