From Probiotic-Infused Cereals to Unicorn-Themed Cereals

In recent years, the sales of cold cereal products have suffered due to consumers scrutinizing ingredient labels and opting for more convenient grab-and-go morning meal options.
Just this year, Post relaunched its popular Oreo O's cereal. Along with it, a number of crossover products have been introduced, including flavors that remind of Nutter Butter and Chips Ahoy! cookies, as well as sprinkled donuts, hot cocoa, ice cream and cupcakes.
In order to better cater to health-conscious and vegan consumers, the W.K.Kellogg cereal line will be introduced in the new year, spotlighting organic wholegrain wheats and super grains with no sugar added. Many brands in the cold cereal category are also putting a similar emphasis on clean ingredients by reformatting products without artificial ingredients and high fructose corn syrup. General Mills now offers Trix, made with only colors from natural sources, as well as its synthetically colored Classic Trix.
