Offline Shopping

Targeting online shoppers, retailers scale down displays to look like e-shops

Implications - Sites like Pinterest and Amazon have acclimatized shoppers to browse in a formulaic fashion rather than by looking through racks, which is something that physical retailers are combating against with minimal displays that highlight individual products. Recognizing the fleeting nature of in-store shopping, the retailers are focused on conforming rather than evolving to satisfy the perceived shopper of today and tomorrow that's easily overwhelmed by too much choice.
