Ice sculptures are a popular form of art and for some people and has become a frigidly fond hobby. The first-ever recorded ice carving sculptures was in China. Centuries ago, hunters and fishermen of China in the Heilongjiang province used ice to design ice lanterns. They filled buckets up with water and allowed it to freeze and then dug a hole in the ice and placed a candle inside. It wasn't long before this trend spread and people began to keep up with the tradition.

Nowadays, ice sculptures can be seen on tables at parties, festivals and along streets on cold winter days. You can see that ice sculptures has revolutionized into amazing pieces of art ranging from functioning musical instruments to Harry Potter character renditions. Heck, there's even a Norwegian based hotel made just from ice.
