Lobby Timber Sculptures

Hotel Park Ave Features a Stacked Timber Artwork by Jan Hendzel Studio

Hotel Park Ave hosts a large-scale timber installation designed by Jan Hendzel Studio within the hotel’s ground-floor lobby in New York City. The sculptural work consists of five vertically stacked, rounded timber forms that rise approximately 3.8 meters in height. Each element is constructed from laminated segments of wood that are turned and assembled to create pebble-like volumes. The installation is positioned behind the reception desk and forms a central visual element within the lobby space. The sculpture is accompanied by a timber bench produced using the same fabrication approach and materials.

The installation is fabricated primarily from British-grown timbers, including Douglas fir and ash, with sections made from reclaimed cross-laminated timber. The project was commissioned as part of the hotel’s interior refresh and assembled on site in collaboration with local teams. It represents Jan Hendzel Studio’s first permanent sculptural installation in the United States.
