Illuminated Glass Vases

The Nimbus Vase Combines Lighting with Hand-Blown Sculptural Glass

The Nimbus Vase by Sinan Kafadar merges decorative lighting and floral display into a single sculptural object formed from hand-blown glass. The piece features a translucent cloud-like upper chamber positioned above a cylindrical illuminated base that casts a soft glow through the vessel. Designed to function as both a vase and ambient light source, the object shifts appearance depending on whether flowers, water, or light are present inside the form.

The design uses diffused internal lighting to emphasize the texture and curvature of the glass surface, creating changing reflections and shadow patterns throughout the surrounding space. Sinan Kafadar developed the piece as part of an ongoing exploration of emotional lighting and sensory-driven objects that blur the boundary between furniture, sculpture, and functional design. The Nimbus Vase combines transparent and frosted glass finishes with concealed lighting components.
