Gibson's Original Collection delivers a series of three reimagined flat-top acoustic guitars handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana. The models commemorate the company's 100 years of acoustic instrument production that began in 1926 and shaped the sound of generations of musicians across folk, rock, and popular music.
Gibson's Original Collection includes the SJ-200 60s Original, LG-2 50s Original, and the J-160E Original models. Each flat-top acoustic guitar design is connected to a rich history. The SJ-200 60s Original, for example, pays tribute to the model known as the King of the Flat-Tops. It features a AAA figured maple body, solid AAA Sitka spruce top, vintage-correct nitrocellulose lacquer finish, and the distinctive no-border pickguard that defined its 1960s appearance. The LG-2 50s Original, on the other hand, evokes the small-body acoustic favored for its balanced voice and projection. It is constructed with a solid Sitka spruce top with scalloped X-bracing, solid mahogany back and sides, and equipped with an L.R. Baggs pickup for stage-ready performance. The J-160E Original returns as an acoustic-electric hybrid with a solid Sitka spruce top and scalloped X-bracing, replacing the laminated construction of earlier versions
