From Waste-Reducing Suede Sneakers to Pollution-Cleaning Electric Cars
Josh Thompson-Persaud — May 29, 2021 — Eco
Many of the May 2021 eco trends focus on new products and initiatives that incorporate eco-friendly elements into established traditional business models. As environmental concerns come to the forefront of cultures around the world, many brands are taking up the challenge to reduce carbon footprints and produce eco-conscious goods and services.
New Balance is one such brand trying to tackle sustainability with its MADE Responsibly line of one-of-a-kind sneakers. The shoe brand uses surplus suede, among other scrap materials, to handcraft exclusive shoes in all-new colorways. Through the use of surplus fabrics, New Balance ultimately prevents the waste of virgin materials.
Taking a more active approach to eco-consciousness, the electric Airo car purifies polluted air while it drives using advanced HEPA filters. With the filters, the Airo car cuts down on exterior fossil fuel emissions and promotes clean air.
