As part of Mattel's timely eco-conscious rebranding campaign, the new Matchbox Tesla Roadster toy takes the stage, made from recyclable materials. The body, chassis, and interior, which make up 99% of the Tesla Roadster toy, are made from a combination of recycled zinc and plastic, while the axles are made from sturdy stainless steel. The toy's compact packaging is entirely recyclable with some being compostable.
Matchbox's Tesla Roadster is one of at least six electric vehicle toys–including the Nissan Leaf and the BMW i3–launched on the back of the car industry's push toward clean energy. Looking to reduce its carbon footprint, Matchbox claims it will switch over to fully recyclable plastic by 2030. Matchbox's Tesla Roadster toy will be on sale in 2022.
