Naturally Cooling Subway Tiles

The Conceptual 'Terracotta Valley Wind' Uses Evaporative Cooling

The conceptual 'Terracotta Valley Wind' has been designed by Intsui Design as anesthetically pleasing wall covering for subway stations that would work to keep the subterranean locations far cooler when temperatures rise up above ground.

The wall makes use of the namesake terra-cotta material that is paired with water thanks to a series of channels that run through the interior. The evaporative cooling process then goes to work dropping the temperature of the air around the surface to naturally keep the surrounding environment far more comfortable during the summer months.

The conceptual 'Terracotta Valley Wind' also cleverly makes use of the subway cars whooshing by, which will accelerate the evaporative cooling and push the cooler air around the environment.

Evaporative Cooling
The technology can be applied in various industries such as construction, transportation, and agriculture to decrease energy consumption and increase comfort or productivity.
Integration with Transportation
Integrating eco-friendly solutions with transportation such as utilizing air movement, speed, or weight can enhance energy efficiency and create a sustainable infrastructure.
Functional Design
Combining aesthetics and functionality is a growing trend in architecture, interior design, and product design that caters to the needs of users while reducing environmental impact.

Where This Applies

Construction
Opportunities exist to integrate sustainable materials and innovative cooling technologies in building design to reduce energy consumption and improve indoor comfort.
Transportation
Eco-friendly infrastructure and transportation solutions could revolutionize the transportation industry and pave the way for sustainable mobility and logistics.
Agriculture
