Evaporated Cooling System Concepts

The TONY Concept by Lea Lorenz Offers Natural Cooling

Lea Lorenz designed the TONY, which is a modern take on the clay jug cooling concept. The structure leverages the techniques of evaporative cooling systems that keep food cool without having to rely on electricity. The clay coolers are sectioned into different stacked boxes for various functions and modular elements.

Each one is made up of a food container, a water tank, and a lid to keep it all enclosed. This results in each clay cooler working separately from one another. Water is absorbed into the raku-clay with perforated details and as it evaporates on the walls, it cools down the contents inside to between the range of 13°C to 17°C. This makes it great for storing baked goods, vegetables, and fruits.
