DENOLDERVLEUGELS is an architecture firm based in Amsterdam, and the company was recently assigned a project to help revamp this apartment for a well-travelled family. The people were looking for somewhere to call home, but a space where they could also put cherished artifacts collected on their travels. With this in mind, the designers put together an extremely open-concept apartment, with a steel staircase as the main center point to connect the various levels.
The apartment was built in the 1920s, so certain areas of the apartment retain this older material used. The attic, which was once used as a space to hide people during the war, has been transformed with an extended balcony that allows individuals to take in a stunning view of Amsterdam, as well as the surrounding areas.
