From Pocket-Sized Gaming Devices to Revived Rare Video Games

The video game industry has finally begun to release revamped old-school gaming gear and this list of retro gaming gift ideas showcases some of the best offerings made this year.

Designed for the DIY-inclined, the 8BitDo DIY controller mod kits lets gamers take their old controllers into the modern age. Granting Bluetooth and wireless capabilities to old-school controllers, these mod kits are incredibly easy to use and are fairly forgiving for first time builders. The kits are currently available for NES, SNES, Super Famicom and Mega Drive controllers and do not require the use of a soldering iron or extensive toolbox.

Also included in this are the Arcade1Up Machines. Offering full-sized arcade cabinets, this retro gaming machines stand 4-feet tall and require some user assembly. Each machine features an exclusive game as its defining artwork, but will also come preloaded with an assortment of classic titles. All the games emulated on the cabinets will maintain the controls, sounds, and gameplay elements as their original counterparts.
