Quoth Sammy Hagar, "I can't drive 55," and if the same goes for oneself, then the July 2017 Autos trends are ideal reading. As summer enters its blistering zenith, hot rods fly even faster over hot roads, burning rubber and expectations alike.

The Hennessey Venom F5 is surely the best example of summer's automotive heat. The American supercar has yet to enter the production phase, but its prototype has turned heads (by the sheer force of its draft alone) thanks to its record-setting top speeds for a production vehicle. Indeed, the car is partially named after the top intensity of tornado designations, since it can reach the same speeds as those natural disasters.

While the Venom F5 might outprice most consumers as well as outpacing them, gearheads need not necessarily settle. The McLaren 570S Spider is still quite expensive, but its nearly half the price of other McLaren models.
