Luxury car maker Porsche has unveiled its most powerful rear-wheel drive sports car at the entertainment and gaming expo E3.
As a car brand largely absent from video game culture, it is surprising to learn that Porsche has chosen a gaming convention as the venue for its most recent launch. But the expiration of an exclusive licencing deal with Entertainment Arts has allowed for other gaming companies to now include Porsche vehicles in their games. On the heels of Porsche's announcement of its newest 911 GT2 RS -- an almost 700 horsepower, powerful rear-wheel drive sports car with a 3.8-liter twin-turbo engine -- comes the reveal of the vehicle as the poster-car for 'Forza Motorsport 7.'
This release highlights the dissemination of sports car culture into other social arenas. Traditionally, newly released vehicles would be announced at major auto shows. This unconventional release shows how car makers are working to keep up with marketing pulls from other industries.
