Last week Sanrio corrected Christine R. Yano, an anthropologist at the University of Hawaii, when she stated that Hello Kitty is a cat; the world is still reeling from the news that she is definitively not and to provide some solace, here is a collection of Hello Kitty products. Although she has whiskers and tuft ears, Hello Kitty is a cartoon and a British human girl whose real name is actually Kitty White.
Yano told Los Angeles Times, "She is a little girl. She is a friend. But she is not a cat. She’s never depicted on all fours. She walks and sits like a two-legged creature. She does have a pet cat of her own, however, and it’s called Charmmy Kitty." Glad that's all cleared up. These Hello Kitty products all have new meaning now.
