Virtual applications enhance the museum experience
Implications - Gone are the days of basic audio tours, guided tours and squinting to read the little placards associated with individual exhibits. Today, more and more museums are going virtual, offering special iPad apps to give digital consumers more integrated and interactive tours. Some "museums" don't even have physical locations, which is the case for Vogue's fashion archive and Valentino's 3D virtual exhibit. Nonetheless, providing a digital tour captures the attention of the tech-savvy consumer while also offering in-depth information and access to other resources, thereby enhancing the entire experience.
