While the fashion world is full of immensely talented photographers, there are a select few that become household names and whose work is synonymous with pushing the envelope, and this gallery of Craig McDean captures demonstrates why the British photographer makes that list.

Along with photographers like Terry Richardson, Steven Meisel, Mario Testino and Mario Sorrenti, Craig McDean is a force in the fashion industry. McDean no longer works in his hometown of Manchester and is now based in New York City instead.

He has shot some of the biggest names in the industry, and his work is regularly featured in elite magazines like Vogue and W. McDean has also shot ad campaigns for the most respected fashion houses in the world, like Gucci, Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani, Oscar de la Renta and Yves Saint Laurent.
