Creative cooks are constantly coming up with new sandwich recipes that focus on what’s on the inside, but these creations start from the outside, replacing go-to sandwich buns with unusual alternatives.

As gluten is a real buzzword now when it comes to health, some of these recipes even ditch bread entirely in favor of vegetable-based wraps and containers.
