Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich Has New Breading and Seasonings

Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich has been given a bold overhaul alongside the brand's Classic Chicken Sandwich to keep the menu items in line with changing consumer preferences. The Spicy Chicken Sandwich now features a panko-style breading that's infused with a nine-spice blend to elevate the heat level without being too overpowering. The sandwich is also paired with a bold marinade and comes served on a buttery potato bun that has a pillowy texture, while also reportedly being softer and sweeter than the bun used on the previous menu items.

The new Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich and Classic Chicken Sandwich are each paired with lettuce, tomatoes and pickles for toppings, and also feature a new homestyle mayo dressing that draws inspiration from southern cuisine.
