Bread-Encrusted Gemstone Jewelry

Cindy Xinyi Wu Creates the Beautiful Rising Collection

Designer Cindy Xinyi Wu has created the Rising collection, which is a jewelry capsule highlighting bread as the main element. It brings attention to the energetic nature and beauty of dough as the capsule features sculptural rings, earrings, necklaces, bangles, and brooches. It is comprised of baked bread dough bulging from intricately shaped metal frameworks.

The shapes are created by allowing the dough to freely expand in the metal frames. Wu shared with Dezeen, "I've always perceived bread as a precious and beautiful element. In my work, I intended for bread to take the central role traditionally occupied by gemstones in jewellery, hence my method of integrating bread with metal is influenced by the classic technique of setting gemstones in metal frameworks."
