Norwegian jewelry imprint Tom Wood works together with Japanese fashion name Kozue Akimoto on the Chiyu collection. It is made up of ring designs that bring forth feelings of protection, armor, and bandaging. Designer Mona Jensen was looking to explore ideas of renewal through jewelry after breaking her finger.
Akimoto notes in a statement, “The original idea came from healing an injury, which is why we decided on chiyu as the name of the project. It means healing, treatment, and recovery from an injury. But it can also mean regeneration and renewal, the improvement of something old.” The rings come in various widths and can be worn on both the upper and lower parts of the finger, stacking where the bandaid may be on an injured hand.
