26 Insect-Infused Edibles

Although many parts of the world already make a point to eat insects simply because they are available, this practice has yet to catch on globally. As a rich source of protein, the gross-out factor of eating bugs is being made appetizing with gourmet dinners, desserts and remixed classic dishes.

Edible insects are beginning to creep into the mainstream slowly, as proven by Wayback Burgers introducing a cricket milkshake, the Economist is giving out samples of insect-infused ice cream this summer and the Eagle Rock Brewery using bugs native to South America to give its beer a pink tint.

Since there is only so much packaging for insect-infused products can do, many brands are aiming to get consumers to branch out and eat insects in exciting ways. For instance, Laithwaite's hosted a wine tasting that was paired with bugs, while pest control brand Rentokil created a pop-up where people could try eating the insects it rids the world of.
